Crete de Antony Beevor mi-a oferit o privire profunda asupra unei etape mai putin cunoscute din Al Doilea Razboi Mondial. Cartea exploreaza nu doar invazia germana, ci si curajul remarcabil al rezistentei cretane. Stilul lui Beevor e riguros si documentat, dar lectura a fost dificila mai ales in engleza, cu pasaje dense si un ton sobru. Mi-ar fi placut sa existe o traducere in romana, pentru a putea savura mai usor nuantele si contextul istoric. Cu toate acestea, e o carte valoroasa, pe care o recomand pasionatilor de istorie si celor interesati de povesti de rezistenta si demnitate in fata ocupatiei germane.

Pt cei care sunt pasionati de istorie si mai ales de actiunile din al 2-lea razboi mondial numele lui Anthony Beevor este unul cunoscut si recunoscut.
Beevor si in aceasta carte ( la fel ca si in "D-Day", "Stalingrad", "Berlin", etc. etc.) descrie cu amanunte innedite si cu o excelenta accuratete istorica , actiunile militare ale partilor beligerante cu accent pe caderea Greciei si cucerirea insulei Creta de catre trupele aeropurtate ale generalului Kurt Student (creatorul unitatilor Fallschirmjager ) - si respectiv descrierea actiunilor "Rezistentei Cretane"...
O carte captivanta - care descrie caderea greciei continentale in urma actiunilor armatelor Germana, cucereriea insulei si cursul evenimentelor din 1941 pana la finalul razboiului ... pt cei pasionati de istorie e o carte "must read!".
