Ardennes 1944 de Antony Beevor este o cronica detaliata si dureroasa a ultimei ofensive germane din Al Doilea Razboi Mondial. Mi-a oferit o perspectiva profunda asupra haosului, suferintei si deciziilor strategice, dar a fost o lectura dificila, atat din cauza densitatii informatiilor, cat si pentru ca e scrisa in engleza, cu un stil sobru si tehnic. Mi-ar fi placut sa existe si o varianta in limba romana.
Beevor nu se limiteaza la miscarile militare, ci aduce in prim plan drama umana, tensiunile dintre comandanti si impactul asupra civililor. Nu e o lectura usoara, dar merita efortul daca vrei sa intelegi cu adevarat complexitatea acelui moment istoric. Recomand cartea pasionatilor de istorie si celor care vor sa aprofundeze evenimentele din acea perioada.
