More of the difficult words that students will need to know for the exam are explained in the key terms boxes, and the definitions are repeated through the books in case students forget.
We've simplified explanations and removed details that students targeting a grade 5 or below don't need to know.
Where possible, we've replaced paragraphs of text with easy-to-understand flow diagrams, mind maps or charts. This and the other changes, mean there is significantly less text on the pages for students to tackle.
Exam tips have been re-focused to offer advice in how to weaker students can secure as many marks as possible, rather than how to produce top level answers.
The Preparing for your exam chapters have been thoroughly rewritten with answers and commentary suitable for students working towards a grade 5, with no intimidating grade 9 level answers for your weaker students to weep over.
The level of the activities have been reduced and some of the harder ones cut.
