Goodwin, Ian D.: - Ian D. Goodwin is a principal scientist at ClimaLab in Australia; Hon. Associate Professor of Marine Climate, School of Natural Sciences, Macquarie University, Australia; and Hon. Associate Professor at the Climate Change Research Centre, University of New South Wales, Australia. Dr Goodwin is a specialist in marine and synoptic climatology, paleoclimatology, glaciology, and coastal-marine geoscience. He has been at the forefront of the development of weather and climate regime reconstruction in paleoclimatology using the natural archive including ice cores, glaciers, corals, and coasts. Atmospheric circulation, wind and wave climate, extreme storms, and sea-level studies are central to his research. After a four-decade career, the synoptic paleoclimate approach underpins his research and consulting work in seasonal climate forecasting, climate-change impact assessment, marine weather forecasting, coastal and natural disaster risk assessment, metocean studies, and weather event reconstruction.
