Bovey, Rodney W.: - Dr. Rodney Bovey was raised on a livestock and wheat farm in northern Idaho. He received the B.S. Degree in Vocational Agriculture and the M.S. Degree in Agronomy with a minor in Agricultural Chemistry from the University of Idaho in 1956 and 1959 respectively. In 1959 he was hired by the University of Nebraska as an Instructor in Agronomy and Research Leader of the Use of Aircraft in Agriculture. He also completed the Ph D in Agronomy with a minor in Botany at the University of Nebraska in 1964. Dr. Bovey was employed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture-Agriculture Research Service from 1964 to 1994 as a Research Agronomist to develop weed and brush management on southwest rangelands at Texas A&M University.He later served as an adjunct professor at Texas A&M, Department of Ecosystem Science and Management from 1994 to 2016. During his career Dr. Bovey and co-workers published over 300 scientific papers and several books.
