In giving their history I have selected the most heroic and the most wonderful traits by which they signalized their zeal for the Christian religion. I trust that my readers will be very well pleased to see in the midst of a barbarous nation so many Christians, -men, women, children, old people-after they had embraced the faith, seeking with eagerness the opportunity to die for Jesus Christ, and manifesting their joy at being able to suffer for him the most cruel torments.
