Each minute is an "unrepeatable enigma" and existence, "vague traces of ash in the air." But "amid this indifference," the improbable happens: the poetic event fosters dialogue with others, with the sea, with the animals that inhabit the planet. Poetry consummates the miracle until silence shatters the enchantment.
The poems in Islas a la deriva--written between 1973 and 1975--contain the message of a castaway in time, the material and definitive proof of his passage through this life.
