Since being released in 2024, Ethan's first book, How to Love a Forest: The Bittersweet Work of Tending a Changing World, has been named to several bestseller lists and endorsed by prominent environmental writers including Doug Tallamy, Ben Goldfarb, and Bill McKibben. Ethan also writes a column in Northern Woodlands magazine and contributes to various other publications. When he's not writing, Ethan runs his own consulting forestry company, Bear Island Forestry, and he is a content creator, with tens of thousands of followers across Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok, under the handle @HowToLoveAForest. Ethan lives on Bear Island, his 175-acre working forest, homestead, orchard and sugarbush, and plays in a punk band.
