Prekatsounakis, Yannis: - "Yannis Prekatsounakis was born in 1974 in Heraklion, Crete and joined the Hellenic Naval Academy in 1994. He graduated in 1998 as a 2nd Lieutenant and served on various warships - mainly frigates and fast patrol boats - as well as in several commands of the fleet and the Hellenic National Defence General Staff; he is a graduate of the staff courses appropriate to his rank. In 2015, he was appointed to HS Degiannis as Commanding Officer. He has a Master's Degree in Military Electronic Systems Engineering from the Defence College of Management and Technology in the UK. His keen interest in history - and particularly the Battle of Crete - was the main motive for his detailed research over many years (focusing on his birthplace, Heraklion)."
