After graduating from Colorado State University in 1975, Patty Latham, DVM, practiced veterinary medicine for forty-two years in partnership with her husband, Jim Latham Jr., DVM. Twenty-five of those years were in the Napa Valley.

The Lathams then ran an equine-only general practice in Pagosa Springs, Colorado, and in Larimar County. They also taught equine dentistry at Colorado State University.

Now retired, Latham has published over twenty case reports. Her freelance articles have been featured online and in EQUUS and America's Horse magazines. She is the author of Napa Valley Vets The Balance of Lives, in addition to Colorado Blood.
