Robert Fairchild, a wealthy easterner, has retired in Hollister, Oregon. He bought land, built a beautiful home, and brought in thousands of sheep and reliable shepherds. But seeing as Hollister is the epicenter of cattle country, its townsfolk want nothing to do with Robert and the threat his sheep pose to free-range land and water sources.

When a group called the Hollister Sheep Shooters is formed-whose primary goal is to kill as many of Robert's sheep as possible in the hopes of running him out of town-Robert refuses to flee. Instead, he gets revenge and starts a deadly feud.

As Matt Bannister attempts to uncover who the hood-wearing sheep shooters are, his investigation turns into more than he bargained for, and he struggles to keep the peace between cattlemen and sheepmen-both with hired guns at the ready.
