Adrian McKinty nació y creció en Belfast durante los conflictos de los años setenta y ochenta. Asistió a la universidad de Oxford con una beca para cursar estudios de Filosofía antes de trasladarse a Estados Unidos para convertirse en profesor de lengua en un instituto.

Adrian McKinty was born and grew up in Belfast, Northern Ireland. He studied philosophy at Oxford University before moving to Australia and to New York.
