Teehalt's Planet is a tale of grand adventure set in a future age when faster-than-light space travel has facilitated the discovery and settlement of many planets by human populations. The story's hero, Kirth Gersen, as described in acclaimed author Jack Vance's Demon Princes series, spent his early life tracking down and destroying the five master criminals who had raided his childhood home, Mount Pleasant, and executed or enslaved its occupants, all except Gersen and his grandfather.

Teehalt's Planet finds Gersen, at the mellow age of sixty, living a comfortable and prosperous life, being dramatically confronted with the emergence of a new criminal, Malagate, apparently a successor to one of Gersen's former arch-enemies. Gersen ponders whether he is up to the challenge of confronting this new threat, but ultimately determines to do so. His pursuit of Malagate carries the reader through a series of increasingly exotic planetary venues and wild adventures, until its surprising and dramatic end.
