In the heart of the 1930s Dust Bowl, Ily and Thomas Milton struggled to defend their Oklahoma farm against the relentless dust storms. When Thomas is drafted to fight in a war between North and South Carolina, he is forced to leave Ily behind to weather the storms on her own.

As Thomas marches into battle alongside his best friend, Eddie, and a young recruit named Billy, he finds himself torn between duty, survival, and the desperate need to return home. Meanwhile, a catastrophic storm sweeps across the central United States, earning the name "Black Sunday." Now Ily must face her own trials- enduring the dust storms, unexpected news, and the weight of an uncertain future.
