As the Infected extend their control, New Avalon stands free, but at a high cost.

Marius is missing, presumed dead. Torres refuses to give up on him, determined to launch a rescue if only she knew where to look. Miranda struggles with the Infected's growing influence on her mind. Under John's command, the New Avalon Rangers guard against the Infected, scavenge supplies, and rescue people.

But the Infected aren't the only threat the survivors face. As the Infected creep ever closer, the New Avalon Rangers make contact with other communities, some friendly, others not so much. When a charismatic strongman with visions of a "pure" humanity sets his sights on New Avalon, they must decide whether to cooperate with other non-Infected or risk fighting multiple enemies at once.

Will divided loyalties, tangled family ties, and the evolving Infected destroy humanity's chances just as they start to rebuild?
