Avi Shlaim este un excelent analist al societății israelite de la crearea statului Israel pâna astăzi, fiind parte a acestei înfăpturi. Cartea oferă o viziune deosebit de interesantă cititorului european asupra unor realități istorice de la acel moment și anterioare cu care acesta este mai puțin familiarizat.
