To most it was just a name, the name of an old smalltown boogeyman. A long dead serial killer, peculiarly named after a flower. Kids made up stories and told tall tales all throughout Willow Bay about the enigmatic Black Eyed Susan.
Heather, Emily, and Lila didn't think much more of it than that. For them there was no evil lurking in the shadows. For them, the outside world was a great escape. Every strange or interesting place was an adventure waiting to happen, so long as they could be home in time for dinner.
It was a fun life, one they truly thought would last forever. That was, until their adventures took them further than they had ever been before-to the forest that was always foggy. A place that didn't seem to make sense. One that held dark secrets and even darker intent; where the name Black Eyed Susan was remembered well. What they saw and what they felt would change their lives forever; forcing them to realize that sometimes death isn't the end of the story.
