De (autor): O.F. Walton

Walton, O. F.: - Mrs. O. F. Walton, was an English author of Christian children's books, primarily but not solely fiction. She was the daughter of an Anglican clergyman and married his curate, with whom she spent four years in Jerusalem. Amy was the daughter of John Deck (1815-1882), the vicar of St Stephen's Church on Spring Street in Hull, and Mary Ann Sanderson Gibson (1813-1903), a hymnist. Her writings began with My Mates and I, which was written in 1870 but not published until 1873. Meanwhile, her first published work, My Little Corner, appeared in 1872. Christie's Old Organ, one of her most famous books, was published in 1874 and has been reproduced on a regular basis until today. The book was imported to Japan in 1882 and published in 1885 in a translation by Tajima Kashi, making it one of Japan's first publications on the history of Christian and children's literature. It was translated twice more: in 1903 and in 1994. In 1875, Amy married Octavius Frank Walton, her father's curate at the time. Mrs. O. F. Walton, her husband's name, is how she became more well-known. They relocated to Jerusalem the same year they married, and Octavius served in a church on Mount Zion until 1879. Meanwhile, her novel A Peep Behind the Scenes was released there in 1877.
