One Nation Under the Influence
An affiliate of the Institution for Social and Policy Studies and the Medical School at Yale University, Kevin A. Sabet has been researching and implementing drug policy for over 25 years. Dubbed the "prodigy of drug politics" by NBC News, he has been an advisor to three U.S. presidential administrations, and is the only person appointed by both Republicans and Democrats to work at the White House drug office.
Sabet is currently President and CEO of the Foundation for Drug Policy Solutions (FDPS) and SAM (Smart Approaches to Marijuana), two non-profit organizations he founded with Congressman Patrick Kennedy. His latest book, Smokescreen: What the Marijuana Industry Doesn't Want You to Know (Simon & Schuster), won the Next Generation Indie Book Award (Social Justice Category), and has been optioned for a documentary film. His forthcoming book, One Nation Under the Influence, will be published by Polity in 2025. His writings have appeared in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post and Newsweek. He received his doctorate and master's degrees from Oxford University and his BA from the University of California, Berkeley.
