Howe, Elliott Maud: - Maud Howe Elliott (1854-1948) was an American writer, historian, and women's suffrage activist. She was born in Boston, Massachusetts, to a prominent family, including her mother, Julia Ward Howe. Elliott began writing at a young age, and her first book, a collection of poems, was published when she was just 19. Throughout her career, she wrote several books, including biographies of her parents, Julia Ward Howe and Samuel Gridley Howe. Elliott was also a passionate advocate for women's rights and suffrage, and she was actively involved in the movement. She served as the President of the Boston Equal Suffrage Association, and later, as the Vice President of the National American Woman Suffrage Association. In addition to her writing and activism, Elliott was also involved in various cultural and philanthropic endeavors. She helped found the Newport Art Association and served on the board of several organizations, including the Women's Educational and Industrial Union. Maud Howe Elliott's legacy lives on as a champion of women's rights and a celebrated author and historian.
